RECREATURES

,, As we celebrate weird creatures, keep in mind that weirdness is relative. The ocean comprises more than 90% of the living space on Earth. Even though less than 1 % of the ocean has been explored, the ocean, especially the deep ocean, is more typical of our Earth than anywhere on land, such as a forest, a savannah, a city or a shopping mall. These weird creatures are arguably the typical, normal citizens of our planet - much more so than anything found on land."

Weird Sea Creatures, Erich Hoyt

Recreature is an ongoing semi-fictional scientific exploration aimed at raising awareness of marine life and the impacts of human activity on ocean habitats. The ocean, as the birthplace of life
on Earth,
holds countless undiscovered species, with estimates suggesting up to 750,000
awaiting discovery.

As climate change accelerates, Earth‘s layers melt away to reveal creatures that once thrived here, evolving now to coexist with humans in unexpected ways. These adaptive species may ultimately

form symbiotic relationships with humans, finding habitat within the human body due to its high water content—an attractive feature, given water is their natural environment. A strong, spiked shell

typically protects their soft inner bodies, serving as armor and shield. Inspired by this concept,
the
Recreature series introduces solid silver “armour” pieces, redefining the boundaries of everyday

jewellery while hinting at resilience and adaptation.
